Since 2014, the Korean Cultural Center has organized an annual comic book exhibition by inviting Belgian and Korean artists. Over the years, we've seen many artists stray from traditional comic book patterns to explore new artistic horizons. On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Korea and the European Union (EU) in 2023, our intention is to create a unique opportunity for Korean and European artists to meet and exchange their artistic visions. The exhibition "Pop the Bubbles, Blur the Boundaries" highlights eight creators who have extended their fields of artistic exploration in Korea and Europe. Among them, we count Martin Panchaud, Jérémie Moreau, Mathilde Van Gheluwe, Valentine Gallardo, Yongkwan Kim, Silki, Yoojin Um and Leebinsoyeon.

This exhibition will unveil a variety of comic book works, including "The color of things" by Martin Panchaud, winner of the best album award at the Angoulême Comics Festival in 2023. We will also highlight Silki, a Korean author which has been presented several times at the Angoulême comic strip festival. In addition, we will have the pleasure of presenting the works of Lee Binsoyeon and Kim Yongkwan, two artists who have organized numerous exhibitions in Korea. Let's not forget the work of Yoojin Uhm, who has gained popularity on Instagram, as well as that of Mathilde Van Gheluwe and Valentine Gallardo, two Belgian artists who showcase the unique charm of Belgian graphic novels. Their skills extend not only to comics, but also to illustration and plastic arts.
