    HANBOK on the ROAD: BELGIUM Celebrate Korean Culture in Belgium! We are thrilled to announce our Hanbok Photo shooting Event, an exciting opportunity to celebrate and experience Korean culture right here in Belgium! This unique event invites participants to wear traditional hanbok attire and capture stunning photos in the heart of their city. Here’s everything you need to know: Event Details The Hanbok Photo shooting Event will take place at iconic locations in cities across Belgium, starting from July 1st, with specific dates announced for each city. The event is open to everyone who loves Korean culture and photography. How to Participate To participate, the excitement begins with the announcement of the first city on July 1st. On the same day, the application form will be available on our website and will remain open until 11:59 PM on July 7th (Sunday). Due to limited space, only a select number of applicants will be chosen to participate. Successful applicants will be notified via email at 11 AM on July 10th, so be sure to check your inbox for this important update. What to Expect Participants in the Hanbok Photo shooting Event can look forward to an array of exciting experiences. They will be provided with stunning hanbok outfits for the photoshoot, and a professional photographer will be on hand to capture their special moments. All pictures taken during the event will be professionally edited and sent via email. Additionally, a selected photo will be edited, printed, and sent to participants by post as a cherished memento. This immersive experience in the elegance of Korean culture is perfect for sharing with friends and family. Make great memories in hanbok with your family, friends, or yourself!   2. Korean Language Courses 2024/2025

    We are delighted to announce that applications are now open for the 2024/2025 academic year. The courses will run from the end of August 2024 to the beginning of June 2025, with a total of 28 lessons including exams.  1. Registration ●Dates: July 3rd to July 5th, 2024, from 6 pm to 8 pm.  (No applications will be accepted after this period) ●Registration must be done in person at the Korean Cultural Center located at Rue de la Regence 4, 1000 Brussels. ●Places are LIMITED and will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. (Maximum of 18 students per class) ●The Korean Cultural Center reserves the right to modify schedules and cancel a course if there is an insufficient number of applications. (Minimum of 6 applications per class) ●Mandatory requirements for registration: Application form and receipt of the payment. (150 euros) ●If you are unable to register in person at the Korean Cultural Center, a friend or family member can register on your behalf with your ID card. ●If you wish to enroll in the Sejong 1B (old textbook: Sejong 2) level or higher, it is mandatory to participate in a level test.  2. Level test ●Mandatory for those wishing to join the Sejong 1B (old textbook: Sejong 2) level and above. ●The level test will take place via Zoom after registration. More details will be provided. 3. Pre-registration ●Pre-registration is only available for those who have passed the level test for the 2023/2024 terms with an attendance rate of 70 percent or higher. ●The Korean Cultural Center will send individual emails in June to those who meet these criteria. The consequences of the brutal crackdown by the authorities would set the directions of the lives of two children of the group’s members, Yul and Jing. Despite the deep connection between them, Yul would open up an alteration shop in Seoul and Jing would move to Europe. But now, Cheolsu, a dissatisfied employee at a community theatre, is unearthing the truth about The Specters of Algeria and questioning whether the human situation is as absurd as the play asserts. About the author – Hwang Yeo Jung Hwang Yeo Jung was born in Seoul in 1974. Her debut novel, The Specters of Algeria, won the 2017 Munhak Dongne Novel Prize. Hwang’s next novel, Please Call My Name, was published in 2020. About the translator – Yewon Jung Yewon Jung, a reader first and translator second, loves to fall in love with books and translate the books she loves. Her works include No One Writes Back  (Dalkey Archive Press), One Hundred Shadows  (Tilted Axis Press), and Seven Samurai Swept Away in a River (Deep Vellum Publishing). She is the winner of the 2017 LTI Korea Translation Award and the 2011 Korea Times Modern Korean Literature Translation Award. She lives on a small island in Korea and enjoys taking long walks along the beach.     Korean Culinary Classes Spring 2024 (Part 2) This Spring let’s learn how to cook authentic Korean dishes at the KCC! The themes of the cooking class series of this semester are ‘Korean Street Food’ and ‘Traditional Korean Fermented Foods’. Please see the text below for more info. Time: 18:00-20:00 Venue: Korean Cultural Center Brussels Language: All the classes will be held in English. Participant Criteria: Open to all residents of Belgium (except those with the Korean nationality). Tuition Fee (ingredients are included in the fee): Cooking Class Series 2-A: 125 EUR Cooking Class Series 2-B: 150 EUR Registration You will be able to register for a cooking class series from Tuesday March 26, 2024 at 12:30 through Eventbrite. Korean Street Food In this class participants will learn about the big variety and flavors of popular Korean street food that you would be able to buy on the street or in traditional markets in Korea. Chef Youju Jeon Youju Jeon became a chef because she loves to watch people eat. One of her big interest lies in fermented and matured foods. She also has a big respect towards ingredients that are provided by nature and animals and strives to bring out their best flavors. She also strives to create a zero-waste kitchen. Traditional Korean Fermented Foods In this class participants will learn more about and the importance of Korean fermented foods such as kimchi and ingredients such as gojuchang (Korean chilli pepper paste) and doenjang (Korean soybean paste) in Korean cuisine and how to create everyday dishes with them. Chef Yun Lee Yun Lee was born in Korea and has studied in Korea, the USA and Belgium. She is the owner of “Yun’s Kitchen” in Meise where she holds Korean Cooking workshops and has a Korean food catering service since 2016. She is also a Korean cooking instructor at King Sejong Institute Brussels. She completed cooking courses at a professional cooking school in Ghent in 2013 and finished the Korean Royal Cuisine course and the Korean Royal dessert course in Seoul in 2019. She is also a Korean cuisine specialist appointed by the Korean Food Promotion Institute.
