[2025 Benelux Tour] Young Korean Artists Perform Mozart, Fauré & Brahms Young Korean artists, having already demonstrated their exceptional skills and gained attention on the international stage, are embarking on a special Benelux Tour. Hosted by the Korean Cultural Center in Belgium, this is a significant occasion where four soloists, laureates of major competitions, gather to present the capabilities and future of K-Classic to European audiences. Violinist Dayoon You, violist Sejune Kim, cellist Woochan Jeong, and pianist Youl Sun are active in their respective solo careers, while also uniting to create a flawless ensemble. Through a profound musical dialogue that transcends their individual brilliance, they will breathe new life into the works of Mozart, Fauré, and Brahms. The program for this tour explores the narrative beauty of music through the piano quartets of these three masters. These works are masterpieces in which the composers poured their most intimate thoughts and emotions, with every single note becoming a powerful piece of storytelling that reaches the audience. The music, transcending time, will be reborn through the fresh perspective of these young artists, delivering an even more vivid and moving experience. Dayoon You (violin) Violinist Dayoon You has garnered international attention by winning Second Prize in the Violin division at the 2023 Long-Thibaud International Competition, receiving an award at the 2024 Queen Elisabeth International Competition, and becoming a finalist at the 2022 Henryk Wieniawski International Violin Competition. Actively performing in both solo and concerto appearances, she also demonstrates a deep passion for chamber music, which includes winning First Prize in the String Quartet division at the 2023 Salzburg Mozart Competition. She currently plays a 1774 Guadagnini Turin violin, generously supported by the Kumho Cultural Foundation. Sejune Kim (viola) Violist Sejune Kim garnered significant attention in 2018 as the first Korean to win Second Prize at the Tokyo International Viola Competition. He made major headlines again in 2019 by becoming the first Asian to be appointed Principal Viola for life with Germany's renowned NDR Radiophilharmonie. He proved his soloist capabilities early on, achieving First Prize at the Jan Rakowski Competition and Second Prize at the Tokyo and Hindemith International Competitions. Furthermore, as a member of the Abel Quartet, founded in 2013, he achieved outstanding results in chamber music, including becoming the first Korean to win Third Prize in the String Quartet division at the Geneva International Music Competition. Since 2024, he has also been committed to nurturing young talent by teaching at the Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media. Woochan Jeong (cello) Cellist Woochan Jeong garnered significant attention as a rising star by being a laureate at the prestigious 2022 Queen Elisabeth International Competition. Debuting at the age of ten, he has demonstrated exceptional skill since childhood, standing out in numerous national and international competitions. His accolades include Second Prize at the 2022 Isang Yun International Competition and Fourth Prize at the Paulo International Cello Competition. In addition to his solo and concerto engagements, he shows a deep passion for chamber music as a member of the Eden Quartet. He currently performs on a Giovanni Paolo Maggini, Brescia c.1600 instrument, generously supported by the Kumho Cultural Foundation. Youl Sun (piano) Pianist Youl Sun is a next-generation artist who possesses both unique technical brilliance and profound musicality. In 2024, he achieved an impressive triple crown (including First Prize) at the Gina Bachauer International Piano Competition, and was the co-winner of the Seoul International Music Competition in the same year, confirming his musical stature. Gaining attention on the European stage, his achievements include Second Prize at the 2023 Viseu International Piano Competition and a laureate prize at the Maria Canals International Music Competition. He demonstrates a great passion for chamber music, co-founding the ‘Harang, Piano Duo’ with fellow pianist Jae Sung Bae, with whom he performs continuously. From early to contemporary music, recorder player Hojin Kwon takes the stage at the Korean Cultural Center in Belgium for a concert filled with ‘In:Spir-Ation’! Hojin Kwon, who won both the Second Prize and the Audience Prize at the 2021 MA Competition in Bruges, is a rising artist in the international music scene. Her performances, which have been featured on prestigious European broadcasters such as BBC Radio 3 and SRF 2 Kultur, captivate audiences as she explores a wide-ranging repertoire from early music to contemporary and improvisational works. Joining her on stage is harpsichordist Mélanie Flores, a winner at the 2022 International Bach Competition in Leipzig. As fellow members of the ensemble 'Sonorità,' the two have already demonstrated their perfect chemistry. This concert will present a diverse tapestry of melodies, weaving together the profound depth of early music and a modern sensibility through the beautiful dialogue between the recorder and the harpsichord. In 2021, she was awarded the Second Prize and the Audience Prize at the prestigious MA Competition in Bruges, where her performance was described as "a true fireworks display — emotionally rich and artistically refined". As a founding member of the ensembles Sonorità and Las Lunas, she explores a broad spectrum of historical and contemporary repertoire. After studying at the Korea National University of Arts, she continued her studies at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, completing her degrees with the highest honors. She currently teaches at the Musikschule Konservatorium Zurich. * Mélanie Flores (harpsichord) Mélanie Flores is a Mexican harpsichordist, choral conductor, and educator. In 2022, she was an award winner at the International Bach Competition in Leipzig. She has performed as a soloist and ensemble member at prestigious festivals across Europe and Mexico, including Jeunes Talents in Paris and the Fringe Festival Oude Muziek in Utrecht. Flores has appeared with the Venice Baroque Orchestra and participated in numerous opera productions. As a member of Sonorità and Las Lunas, she has a long-standing musical partnership with Hojin Kwon. She holds master's degrees in performance and pedagogy from the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis.

Reviving the sound of the past, one breath at a time — Recorder and traverso player Yeuntae Jung takes the stage at the Korean Cultural Center in Belgium! Having studied recorder and traverso flute at the University of the Arts (UdK) Berlin, Yeuntae Jung gained attention with his 2nd prize at the prestigious International Competition Musica Antiqua 2017 in Bruges and triple awards at the 3rd International Berlin Bach Competition in 2018. He regularly performs with renowned ensembles such as AKAMUS (Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin), Lautten Compagney, and the nuri collective. As a soloist, he has also performed with the Bochum Symphony Orchestra under the baton of baroque violin master Enrico Onofri. For this special concert, Yeuntae Jung will be joined by violinist Han Sol Lee Eo, gambist Thomas Fields, and harpsichordist Tung-Han Hu, presenting the delicate and expressive timbres of period instruments in a beautiful baroque program. Since 2015, she has deepened her musical expertise through masterclasses and projects with legendary artists such as Sigiswald Kuijken, Florence Malgoire, and Enrico Onofri. She was awarded the 1st prize at the International Johann Heinrich Schmelzer Competition in 2024 and received the Jury Prize at the International Competition for Early Music Yamanashi in 2016. As a violinist and cultural producer, she is dedicated to exploring diverse repertoires and realizing projects between Europe and Korea. * Thomas Fields (viola da gamba) An accomplished gambist and historical cellist, Thomas Fields became the first gambist to win 1st prize at the 13th International Telemann Competition in 2025. He performs regularly throughout Europe and North America, appearing at prestigious festivals such as the Utrecht Early Music Festival, and the Heinrich Schütz Music Festival. With his ensemble False Consonance, he won the title “Rheinsberger Hofkapelle” in 2024 and served as Ensemble-in-Residence at the historic Rheinsberg Palace during the 2024/2025 season. * Tung-Han Hu (harpsichord) After studying at the UdK Berlin and the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich, Tung-Han Hu won several international competitions, including those in Magdeburg, Göttingen, and Leipzig. His concert appearances have taken him to events such as the Bachfest Leipzig, Bruges, and the Collection of Historical Keyboard Instruments in Bad Krozingen. Since the winter semester of 2022/2023, he has been working as a harpsichord accompanist at the Institute for Early Music at the UdK Berlin.
