THE 9TH KOREAN SPEECH CONTEST
Saturday, 14:00, 11 June, 2022 @ Korean Cultural Center
The 9th Korean speech contest in Belgium will be held once again at the Korean Cultural Center on June 11th, 2022. This contest is open to Korean language learners residing in Belgium or Luxembourg who want to demonstrate their speaking skills. This contest aims to promote the study of the Korean language and culture.
1) Date, time & venue: Sat., June 11, 2022 at 14:00 @ Korean Cultural Center
(Regentschapsstraat 4 Rue de la Régence, 1000 Brussels)
2) Entry Qualification: Non-native speakers of Korean over the age of 18 that are residing in Belgium or Luxembourg
*1st place winners in the non-beginner section in the last three years (2018 to 2021) is not allowed to participate
but will be invited to a special event.
3) Application procedure
- Application period: Monday, May 16 ~ Sunday, June 6 (until midnight)
- Required documents
o Registration form
o ID card copy or Passport copy
o the Written text of the speech (1~3 minutes)
- to be sent by e-mail to education@kccbrussels.be
(the application will only be accepted by e-mail)
4) Process
- The Korean speech contest will take place at the KCC in Brussels (11/06/2022)
- 1st winner of the contest will be invited to the finals in Korea (in October)
- Grand Final (Sejong Speaking Contest in Korea)
- 1st winner of the Grand final will get a chance to be hosted by university in Korea
5) Categories

** 1st prize winner in the non-beginner section will receive a round-trip ticket to Korea in order to participate in a special training
hosted by the King Sejong Institute in Korea (including accommodation) in October 2022.
7) Criteria’s: Speech only (Evaluation: 100/100 points)
A. Eloquence (25 points)
- Connection between the subject and its context
- Correctness of grammar and vocabulary
B. Fluency (30 points)
- Pronunciation
- Intonation
C. Attitude (30 points)
- Clarity
- Talking without reading
D. Reaction of the jury members (10 points)
E. Time Limit (5 points)
- Maximum 3 minutes
***The participants are not allowed to use any materials such as music, photos or computers during the speech.
They are also not allowed to do a ny kind of performance.
