©JM Chabot PAYS DE DANSES 30 Jan. - 21 Feb. 2020 Eun-Me Ahn <North Korea Dance> / 21st Feb. 2020 at 8 PM / Theatre de Liege(Place du Vingt Aout 16, 4000 Liege) The eccentric South Korean choreographer Eun-Me Ahn had ignited the 2014 festival with Dancing Grandmothers! Exclusively Belgian, she returns with her last piece bouncing on the recent resumption of a dialogue between the two Koreas. Unable to go to the North, the artist collected the dance videos available on the canvas and decoded, beyond common roots, the evolution of an art subject to a dictatorial regime. Extracting the essence of military parades, fan dances, manly gestures, virtuoso acrobatics, traditional dances and folk dances, she reclaims the codes through her joyful, ironic and pop art. The ten performers, including herself, alternate minimalist paintings and colorful frescoes, delicacy of the gayageum(traditional Korean instrument) and jubilant trance on electro basses. Extravagance as a pipe! * The seats for this performance are currently sold out, but if you register in the <Waiting List> on the website of the Pays de Danse, you will be contacted in the order when there are cancellations. * Stone Jazz is a group of of 6 Korean-born musicians composed of jazz trio combined queerly with korean traditional instrumentalists. With a motto of 'Sincere communication between tradition and Jazz', Stone Jazz has materialized sophisticated arrangement and compositional power with an unique sound format, starting in 2005 this unique music group has produced a series of 6 albums and concerts specialized in all major genres with numbers well known to the public, blooming with the last one called 'Gookak jazz Cracks the Classics (Classic but never Classic) ' in 2013. Every year since 2011, they have been invited to perform overseas stages not to speak of major local ones. And especially with the completion of their series project, their next musical direction and activity is said to drag a keen attention. And this very attention has just started to be quenched with this new project called ‘Jang country’ based on unique idea of Korean food. * Program Introduction This program has been developed from the group’s recent album (2019) with the same title. ‘Jang (醬)’ means the basic korean food ingredient from soybean in the form of paste and soy sauce made from long period of fermentation process. And this ingredient surely represents the taste of korean food, hence the fragrance and beauty of korea. Not just within this hackneyed idea, they are trying to look into a broader and deeper view of these conventional phenomena - traditional, modern, east and west, culture and art - to find a new beauty. * Program Dwenjang (된장 / Soybean paste) Sojoo (소주 / Korean toxic wine) Jang (醬) Country Thanks giving (추석) Mannerism I Crazy taste 1 Summer time + Autumn leaves Come together (Beatles) Whale hunting Neighboring country 38 light double (38광땡) Tickets(24.11.2019 Brussels): CLICK HERE
