2020 Global Korea Scholarship Program for Graduate Degrees
The Embassy of the Republic of Korea to the Kingdom of Belgium aims to invite Belgian students, who wish to pursue a graduate level degree (master's or doctoral) in Korea, which will enhance international education exchange and deepen mutual friendship between Korea and Belgium.
1. Total Number of Grantees
o Quota for General Applicants : 2 students
o Quota for Korean-Belgian : 1 student
2. Duration of Scholarship
o Master’s Degree program : 3 years (2020. 9. 1. ~ 2023. 8. 31.)
- 1 year of Korean language program
- 2 years of degree program
o Doctoral Degree Program : 4 years (2020. 9. 1. ~ 2024. 8. 31.)
- 1 year of Korean language program
- 3 years of regular degree program
3. Eligible Universities and Fields of Study
o Eligible Universities : 64 Korean universities designated by NIIED
- For more detailed information on majors (fields of study) offered by the universities listed above, refer to the “University Information” file attached under the GKS Notice post in our Study In Korea website (www.studyinkorea.go.kr).
4. Scholarship Payment
o Airfare, Settlement Allowance, Monthly Allowance, Research Support Fee, Language Training Fee, Tuition, Thesis Printing Fee, Medical Insurance, Korean Proficiency Grants, Degree Completion Grants
5. Application Requirements
o have a Belgian citizenship
o be under 40 years of age as of Sep. 1st, 2020 (born after Sep. 1st, 1980)
o hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree as of 31st August 2020
o maintain a grade point average (G.P.A.) of 80% or higher from the previously attended institution.
6. Timeline
o Deadline of Application Submission : 13th March 2020
※ The 1st round successful candidates’ applications selected by the Embassy will be sent to NIIED by April 3rd, 2020 for the 2nd round.
o Announcement of 2020 GKS Graduate Degrees Scholars(Final) : 26th June 2020
7. How to Apply
o Applicants must submit ONE set of original application forms (all required documents) and THREE sets of photocopied application forms to the Embassy by post; (Address) Chaussee de la Hulpe 173-175, 1170 Brussels, Belgium.
