We are very proud to announce that South Korea is invited as the honored country of the Ommegang 2023. We will present the "Taekwondo Demonstration Performance" by "Team-K" which is composed of 7 members at the Grand Place twice on the 28th and June 30th 2023. And at the Sablon, you will find a special space dedicated to the honored country, Korea where you will discover the charms of Korea through several stands such as Busan which is a maritime city, candidate for the 2030 World Expo, the experience of traditional costume Korean 'Hanbok', and a stand of "Korean oriental medicine".

The origins of the Ommegang date back to the middle of the 14th century. Initially, it was a procession in honor of Notre-Dame du Sablon, organized by the great oath of crossbowmen. Very quickly, the various constituted bodies of the City will join this procession which will also become, see above all, a worldly procession. The exit of 1549 is one of the most famous examples. In this year, Emperor Charles V presents his son and successor, the future King Philip II, to our regions. On this occasion, each city invests to show itself from its best side. Brussels does this by organizing an Ommegang more resplendent than ever.
