The Korean Cultural Center in Belgium is delighted to present a traditional Korean painting exhibition from December 6, 2024, to February 28, 2025. This exhibition celebrates Korea’s unique artistic heritage by showcasing various works that explore themes of prosperity, hope, and harmony between nature and humanity.

The exhibition features iconic subjects from Korean traditional paintings, including Sipjangsaengdo(Ten Symbols of Longevity), Ilwolobongdo(Sun and Moon with Five Peaks), Gungjung Hwajodo(Palace Flower and Bird Paintings), Haehakbandodo (Sea, Cranes, and Peaches), and Chaekgeori (bookshelf paintings). Additionally, it includes floral-themed works such as The Potato Flower and The Peony Flower, as well as Flowers and plants Paintings(Hwahwado), combining natural elements with symbolic motifs to create a diverse visual experience. Each piece blends traditional symbolism with modern interpretations, offering visitors a profound insight into Korea’s cultural heritage.

Highlights of the exhibition include Yeonapdo (lotus and duck paintings), Hwajeopdo (flowers and butterflies), and Chaekgeori—artworks that beautifully illustrate the unique charm of folk paintings of Korea. These works go beyond aesthetic appeal, embedding deeper meanings of health, wealth, hope, and prosperity, while reflecting the timeless value of Korean traditional art.
