‘Janggu’ Korean Traditional Percussion workshop
The Korean Cultural Center is delighted to introduce a Korean Traditional Percussion workshop with professional
Korean Traditional percussionist, Basile Peuvion. Basile Peuvion will share his knowledge about Korean Traditional
Percussion Janggu. Attendees will be able to enjoy a traditional Korean Instrument and learn to play basic rhythms.

○︎ Program
During this initiation workshop, participants will learn/ discover :
- the different techniques of sounds on the Janggu
- the korean feel "ho-heup"
- how to sing the rhythms with onomatopoeias
- playing "Hwimori" rhythms
- the four instruments of Samulnori music
- playing rhythms of Korean traditional songs "Minyo".
- about the history of Korean traditional music
And they will prepare a little concert at the end of the workshop

○︎ Instructor : Basile Peuvion
After giving a jazz concert at the “Yeosu Expo 2012” in Korea, Basile Peuvion became deeply passionate about the Korean traditional music. He then learned the Janggu and the Pansori with Korean masters and took part in several international contests. In 2017, he settled down for a year in Korea and performed with a variety of jazz, contemporary and Korean traditional ensembles. In 2019, he was awarded honorary Dongducheon citizenship by the mayor of the city.
