KCC On Stage 2025: Discover 10 Korean Performing Arts at the KCC!

Exploring the essence of humanity and the meaning of existence through dance, 99 Art Company takes the stage at the Korean Cultural Center in Belgium. Led by choreographer Hyerim Jang, the company has been creating a new form of Korean dance that bridges tradition and modernity. Guided by the motto ‘Dance that resonates with the soul,’ 99 Art Company presents works imbued with deep reflections on the value of human existence.

In this performance, the company showcases its representative work <Je_Burnt Offering>, which was honored with the Grand Prize at the 2019 Seoul Arts Awards.
Inspired by the ancient ritual of the burnt offering—a ceremony in which offerings were burned to send their fragrance to the divine—this piece reinterprets the archetype of dance as ritual in a contemporary context. Through powerful movement and striking imagery, it portrays the sublime beauty of human beings who, within the repetition of daily labor, quietly burn their time to give meaning to life.

* Hyerim JANG (Artistic Director)

Hyerim Jang is a choreographer who creates dances that ‘resonate with the soul’, grounded in the spirit of traditional Korean dance. After graduating from the Korea National University of Arts, she founded 99 Art Company, and has since been acclaimed on international stages in countries such as Sweden, Italy, Brazil, and Singapore for her profound works exploring the ontological value of human existence.

Founded in 2014, 99 Art Company aims to create a new form of Korean dance that bridges tradition and modernity. Led by choreographer Hyerim Jang, the company continues to produce works that embody deep reflection on the value of human existence, guided by the motto ‘Dance that resonates with the soul’ Its representative works include  <Breathing Swing>, <Abyss>, <Silence>, and <Land of Roses>. In recent years, the company has expanded its artistic scope beyond stage performances to include collaborations with visual artists, performance art within exhibitions, and international exchange projects.
