WHAT IS MARCH 1st MOVEMENT?

- March 1st, is one of the most important national holidays in Korea: Korea Independence Movement Day or Samil Day.

- Koreans celebrate this day in commemoration of the Independence Movement in 1919 which started as a national protest against Japan ruling Korea.

- Even thought, these events happened in 1919, until 1945 Independence Movement day wasn’t recognized as a national holiday.

- March 1st is a day to remember those who lost their lives for the Korean independence.
