Mega Seoul, 4 decades


The last forty years in Seoul, a space that opens up to the world

The Korean Cultural Center in Brussels, Belgium, presents the exhibition "Mega Seoul, 4 decades"


The Korean Cultural Center of Brussels, Belgium and the European Union, under the direction of Mr. KIM Jae-hwan, is organizing from April 8 to May 21, in partnership with KOFICE, a photographic exhibition dedicated to the last forty years of the city of Seoul , period of intensive development, upheavals and historical advances, entitled: “Mega Seoul, 4 decades”.


Twelve photographers participate in this exhibition, mixing ages between great masters, established artists and promising young talents: Ku Bon-chang, Kwon Sun-gwan, Keum Hye-won, Kim Ki-chan, Pak Chan-min, Bang Byeong-sang, An Se-kwon, Lee Gap-cheol, Lee Eun-jong, Ju Myeong-deok, Han-Jeong-sik, Hong Sun-tae. This exhibition will present to the Western public photographic testimonies concerning the last forty years of the city of Seoul shown in all its aspects, from a time when this capital of South Korea had not yet become an ultramodern megalopolis. The works on display show us the transitional phases through which Seoul went through the vagaries and turbulences of modern and contemporary history, and assert itself as one of the greatest cities of the world.


Among the most notable works, we can cite <Myeongdong, 1974>, <Chonrosanggyeong (Midopa department stores), 1974)>, <Seoul station, 1975)> by Hong Sun-tae, <Donhwamun gate, 1972>, <Gahoedong, 1978> by Han Jeong-sik, <The lights of Wolgokdong, 1974> by An Se-kwon, knowing that the seventy works presented in this exhibition allow us to discover a very open vision of Seoul to through many places captured at various times.


The exhibition is open from April 8th to May 21st, from Monday to Friday, from 10 am to 4h30 pm by reservation.
