Modern Sound Korea 2017
Modern Sound Korea
3rd Korean Music Festival Brussels
Title, concept, program...everything is new!
This year, the Korean Music Festival Brussels returns with new concept and new programs under its new title: Modern Sound Korea. As the title says, the Festival spotlights the Korean artists in this day and age from underground music scene to modern/experimental *gugak scene.
Diverse melodies from South-Korea will meet Brussels’ and Europe’s public this November 16th to 28th at the Ancienne Belgique, the Halles Saint-Géry as well as the Korean Cultural Center Brussels. The Festival will enable the public to discover the young and chic sounds preferred by the urban public of South Korea.
In collaboration with the Ancienne Belgique, Jambinai, the most successful world music/post-rock Korean band, will open the Festival at AB Club. The two remarkable female gugak-based musicians, Ji-ha Park and Song-hee Kwon will bring you to the new sound, while blending the western and eastern music instruments.
Moreover, this Festival features the nightlife of the young Koreans through its special program “Bul-Geum”, in collaboration with the Halles Saint-Géry. “Bul- Geum” is a coined word for a Korean expression, “Burning Friday Night” which basically means TGIF. Two irreplaceable music bands SSING SSING and Kim Sawol X Kim Haewon will heat up the Friday night while the public will be able to taste Korean street foods as well as typical drinks.
(*gugak: Korean traditional music)
